    Check it out

I'm more trying to show off the parallax effect, but I like the sliders too. I just used Flexslider for the sliders. Add a little custom sizing CSS to Flexslider and it'll work pretty well for stuff like that.

    Check it out

I've been dying to have an excuse to use it. It's subtle, and most users won't notice it, but I like it.

    Check it out

First, I'm not posting this for a review, because it's in the very early stages (though all thoughts are welcome). Now, go here and resize your browser window on the horizontal and watch the background images. Best part is: simple as heck to do. NOTE: If it doesn't work, you're using IE <9...

    Constant Video Loop

lol. Doubt there's a free way to do something like that. You'd hafta go custom or maybe for pay. I know it's possible, since that's how ESPN3 streams sports and CSPAN streams their networks. Probably with a custom Java or Flash setup.

    Web Site Menu

I see your point here, but we've had this conversation before on here. I'm not one to cater to the "JavaScript turned off" crowd, but they would have zero navigation under those circumstances. CSS2 pseudo-selectors can get the basic job done, and are fully cross-browser compatible. From there...

    aspiring web developer

All joking aside, start by proofreading things that you write. It is important. The smarter you sound when you write/speak, the smarter you look. The smarter you look, the more apt people are to hire you. Other than that, you seem to know where several of your deficiencies are. If someone...

No Follow link juice questions post penguin update

If you're worried about what "Penguin" will do to your SERPs, you're doing it wrong. Chris hit the nail on the head. Quit worrying about that crap. If you had good, original content, you wouldn't need to link build or worry about PR or any of it. People who understand this may drive less overall...

    Traffic!!!!!

That is exactly what not to do. You may get a short-term boost from all that crap, but in the end, you'll get docked for it or worse: delisted. Here's what you do: make a well-coded, easy-to-crawl website. Then, put a regular stream of original, quality content. That's it. If you're looking for...

    Client says "dry"

I wouldn't say "dry" so much as "dated", though I do see what they mean. I would start with Ian's suggestion, and maybe change the color scheme in a big way. I think I know what you're after with the brown "harnessing the power of the earth", but that much brown doesn't say "renewable" to me. It...

    Social media links and sources

One suggestion (though we would be better able to help if we could see the page), put a small text-sized link at the very bottom of the footer. Something like "social icons courtesy of ..."

    Web Site Menu

There are probably so jQuery scripts out there. They seem to be using a script called SSNavigationScript. I can't really find any information on it. Thing is, though you don't really need jQuery to do that. You can do it with CSS. Go here...

    Clothing Business Help

The best "website maker" out there is any text editor with syntax highlighting. Couple that with some HTML/CSS/Javascript knowledge, and you've got a damn solid combination. Best part is, all of that is free. I personally like Sublime Text 2, but Aptana is also really good. Both are free.

    The Cascade - help

Not sure I grasp what you're getting at. What 5 step process are you going through? If you want to understand how CSS cascades, here's a quick rundown in descending priority order: - inline styles - style tags - linked stylesheets So, inline styles will overpower style tags. Also, within...

    testing in multiple browsers..

This is generally what I do. Beware, though that it doesn't switch JavaScript rendering engines for that. It will almost never be a problem, unless you have heavy amounts of custom JS on your site.

What DO You Need to Learn?

I see where you're going with that, but I think it leads us to a better set of questions. Instead of, "what should I learn", it would be more like, "how do I make this".

What DO You Need to Learn?

There are always a lot of questions here like, "what should I be learning", or "what language should I learn next?". Dutifully, the more experienced among us tell them the same answers every time. There's nothing wrong with that. It's what, in part the forum is for. I've always kind of felt...
