Yeah you can pull quotes from books if you use the proper reference. You can't, however, copy an entire article. So as long as you're writing your own thoughts and just using the book for reference it should be fine. Just like a research essay in school.

I'd just install whatever forum software you're going to use into a sub-directory. Then make a link in your navigation to that forum. Then style the forum to match the look and feel of your web page.

This... and because the power of flash is complete overkill for making a website. It's like trying to kill a fly with a nuclear bomb. It will work but it's ineffective and bulky... why not use a flyswatter since it's made for killing flies? Or why not use html and css since they're made for web...

Putting your slider on all 1000 pages is way too much... It would drive any user crazy to have to scroll past it at every page they visit.
