Ideas or Links for FREE Advertising ?

well, there are a lot of those type sites on www.linkexchanged.com. I haven't gotten a lot of use from it for my personal sites but it's really not that bad if you wade through the exchange requests.

I Don't Mean To Be A Pain, But....

well, the name means: common gateway interface. I know that doesn't mean a whole lot to you, lol... cgi scripts are written in a variety of languages, perl, c/c++, basic, etc... which is why i said to ask if your isp allows them and if they have limitations on what kind are allowed. there are...

    Forum Moderators - www.face-crib.com

I meant the owner of the board we're posting on here, not yours. Sorry for the mix up. I was also being facetious, or attempting to be, about my own personal preferences. I have a high respect for anybody who has the fortitude to build forums and make them successful. I just don't happen to be...

    Forum Moderators - www.face-crib.com

---> wishes the owner of this web design board owner had a sign of the cross smiley. I love yapping on forums but hate moderating or running them. Seriously, there are people who truly enjoy running forums so this is a good place to look for moderators and what have you.

    ANy ideas, 2028 pages!??

I agree with SE, a ready made shopping cart is your best bet. It will also track sales of items as well. When looking at the various options in shopping carts, considering the number of items to be sold, I'd recommend osCommerce myself as being one of the more powerful ones. There are others but...

Winterchase ask your isp if they allow cgi scripts or if there are limitations as to what cgi scripts are allowed.

I Don't Mean To Be A Pain, But....

We offer cpanel hosting with databases also but that doesn't mean every hosting service offering hosting services does. The databases aren't built in per se... you can't build something like that in. You can allow for the site owner to build or set them up for whatever the datebase(s) is...

I Don't Mean To Be A Pain, But....

Experience? School of hard knocks of web design? Trolling forums such as this one? Yes, you will have to come up with a form. You will also have to make a space where those form results will be saved... on your website... One good thing about Frontpage is it does have pretty decent help files...

I Don't Mean To Be A Pain, But....

Well, SE, there again not every hosting service will have databases available as a standard service. I do pro bono web design and maintenance for an organization who has hosting with another company who does not offer even one database with their most basic plans... still trying to convince them...

As a last resort alternative, you can use free services like Bravenet to host your guestbook. The reason I call it last resort is because they often require that you allow them to post ads on your site... ads for which they collect the revenues and it's at their discretion what kind of ads they...

    Help with frontpage! Please!

It's one of the drawbacks of using image slices as background images in table cells, unfortunately. It really doesn't matter what html editor you use. The problem will still be the same. Actually you can load a Frontpage web page in Dreamweaver if you are more comfortable with the workings of...

    Help with frontpage! Please!

I just looked at the source code for the site... there's a backgroudn image in the bottom left cell... you'll find if you use the cell property action that i described, set the height of that image to 100% and it will solve your problem. You can also find it in code view and do the same...

    Forum Help

I'd go through the installation and configuration files for the mod, plus see if there is a support forum for the forum and any mods that are frequently used. Someone is sure to have a fix for it somewhere, it just might take some time to find it. Without knowing anything about the mod or the...

    Help with frontpage! Please!

If the page breaks up that must mean that there are graphics that need to fit together? That could be a problem when trying to add more than a cell can hold without changing the fit of the graphics. You handle it much the same way you would through Dreamweaver with the table and cell...

    Oh no!

if it's a gif animation, treat it the same as you would any still image such as a bmp or jpg... right click on the image, choose save as and it's yours. if they have right click enabled it probably wouldn't be a good idea to take the image without asking permission. it can be done though.

How often do I redesign my site?

It depends somewhat on the nature of the site and whether it needs to be revamped to keep up with trends but my take on it is as often as you think it does.

I don't think anybody would label you a terrorist but i gotta warn you, there are some deeply thinking people on this board. If they don't agree with you it could become a pretty fast moving debate. If you do opine a bit be prepared to debate your side.

    Your valued opinion, please

It's nice to see somebody hang around once their problems are somewhat solved. Most drop in, ask their questions or post their offers, then leave. It sure feels like a ghost town sometimes. Lived in GA for a number of years. It's too flat down there. Moved to Nashville which is better. After I...
