Look for a host who offers cpanel with Fantastico. You'll have a choice of several different shopping carts with easy installation. Fantastico offers a lot of other functionalities, including templates, but the templates and such are not automatically installed on your space.

I'd recommend, offhand, JASC Paintshop Pro. It's an affordable price and user friendly. Most of the others are a lot more expensive. TheGimp is another one that is totally free but the learning curve is a lot steeper.

As old as the font is, if it's a true type font it will likely be seen on the web page. I'm not absolutely positive because I've never done it but I think there is a way to install a font on a web site.

Jasc paintshop pro is much less expensive. TheGimp is free but has a steep learning curve.

If you have a windows machine, you can just use windows. right click on the file, choose send to..., choose compressed folders. Windows will walk you through the rest of the way. Couldn't be simpler.

i don't know about modem simulators but I do know that both Frontpage and Dreamweaver allow you to set modem speeds in general settings and will reflect load times for the page at those settings. If you have either one of those, you're set. There may be other HTML editors that will do the same...
