    www.designyourmyspace.com

I like it, cept I still don't like the logo. it's too wavy... either the wavy in the back or the wavy font needs to go. I like your avatar, too, btw.

    Splendidesign

I agree with ian. looks great except for the logo.

    Hmmmm....

Thanks, all. Looks like the site might be changing owners, though. Not sure what the new owner will do with it once the changeover happens. Keep the crits coming though, if you want.

Text is not editable in Frontpage

That's what photoshop and image ready do... convert everything to images even the text. You need to save a version of your layout without the text then set the images for the text areas as backgrounds. Hope that helps.

    Starting Out!

Everything ian said I agree with. I don't think I could ever launch a really successful career as a web designer. I have some code knowledge and all that which I don't mind sharing with others but when it comes to layouts and such, I just don't seem to have the knack for it. I will subcontract...

    Nav _ Css Help please??

define your links inside the navcontainer, just as they are defined for the footer. every class can have different attributes for such things. You started to define them but didn't quite get them set up properly.

    Hmmmm....

Yeah... that's kind of what I was afraid of... but the powers that be... my partners said to leave it as is. I was outvoted.

    Hmmmm....

This is a site I want rich with features so I opted for a background image only and very little other graphics. Can you read the text well enough? Or do I need to set some solid backgrounds with perhaps some opacity settings in the .css so the background peeks through? I'm flip-flopping between...

    PHP's include function ???

Not quite sure what you mean there. Most php requires a mysql database to run and generate the pages that you can view in your browser... that's how it dynamically calls up the pages... not all certainly but most... and usually those that don't are still generating a page of some sort but are...

    PHP's include function ???

Well, first off, you don't link a link to menu.inc, you add a command to the index.php file to include it. In addition, your links might not be 'about.php', 'links.php', and so on. There will be an index.php but the others may be called something else within the system you are using depending on...

    Forum Spam

At least you got jokes. I'd prefer that over the stupid things they say in my blog. SpamKarma works pretty good but even at high settings it's not catching that kind of junk while it will catch other comments that are bonafide. I had to pull one from Suz out of it.

Website view on different Screen Resolution ???

You've put widths in your css that are greater than 800px. Your header alone is 830px. As long as you have absolute sizes for the images, it's not going to show correctly on an 800 x 600 screen.

    Help, I have no idea!!

Sorry, ian. Sometimes I just get a little grumpy over stuff like that. I'll try to be more... ummm... well... I'll try, anyway. I'm inclined to agree with Arkette on this one. The investment will be worth it in the long run, however, if you decide to hire out the work, make sure to have a...

    Help, I have no idea!!

I also find it in poor taste that he chose a screen name using the name of this forum.

    Help, I have no idea!!

Ignore the bugger before me... all he's doing is putting a link to a web design site on posts... this is only one of four so far.. unless he's not done yet. I believe Paypal has tutorials and scripts available for what you want to do but don't quote me on that. For my business I need a...

The cost of a web designer

http://www.webdesignforum.com/showthread.php?t=1498 this is a good formula for starters, then just figure out how long it will take you to build his site and that's the price you quote.

    Google question

It's not the public places that I disallowed, :-). I wouldn't do that. The best solution would be to prune the forum but the customer doesn't want to do that. Images are another problem but that's being worked on. As far as monetizing the site, I'm not sure what she could do to better monetize...

    Google question

I worked on a robots.txt for a customer to disallow certain areas of the site from google crawls and indexing... well, not just google but all bots... However, google is ignoring the robots.txt and doing its own thing anyway. Anybody else have this problem? Google's been using up about...

    Cautions about using scripts

Thank you and you're right. Updates won't keep all the nasties out but they sure help keep some of them at bay.
