Which way to go?

My name is Kiav and my URL is link drop removed People keep on saying that businesses should put more effort on social media marketing. In my own experience traffic from search engines converts faster because it is more targeted. On the other hand I haven't seen traffic from social media making any conversion on my site.
is social media really worth the hype? I feel it is because people on social are essentially there for networking and socialization rather looking for goods and services or what is your opinion?

From paid advertising yes it generally is.

If by 'networking' you mean "communicating with people having similar interests", then; Yes, and if by "socialisation" you really mean 'socialising', yes again. However, this is on the proviso that the page (not site) or the product you are hoping to promote has some 'social' aspect to it, then yes I concur and something that I try to explain from time to time, is that "social media" is NOT a solution for every single product that one may be promoting.
