really what you need to do is ask yourself is if you want to focus on the programming side or the design side of web design.

If you want to develop explosive applications and scripts that require more than a working knowledge of html/css ... then go full throttle and learn things like coldfusion, javascript, php, and the inner workings of databases.

If you want to make websites that are awe inspiringly beautiful ... then drop java and learn photoshop/illustrator. You can do it for free online and there are lots of tutorials on youtube and the web on how to use them.

the courses XHTML, and CSS used by the designer , but java and C++ courses used for web development and programing . so you decide which way you want to go .
