VPS or Shared Hosting for a New Forum?

Hi, I’m about to launch a new discussion forum and need hosting advice.
Should I start with shared hosting or go straight to a VPS?
How much RAM and bandwidth would a small but growing forum require?
Is Regvps.com vps host good? I’d love advice from experienced forum owners.
