Recreate my site

Hey,

I made a site using freewebs, and one of their templates, but I'm not too happy with it, so I've downloaded dreamweaver and I'd basically like to recreate my site but better, this way at least it will be my lack of knowledge limiting me and not the fact that I can't change too much of the template.

I was really just wondering how hard it would be to do, I know nothing about it.

I have been told that I could download any template and then change it, but would that mean that it looked more like the original template? or can it be completely changed?

The site is http://www.mympfree.co.uk/ there's a fair amount I'd quite like to change, and anything you guys could suggest would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Kev

Server Side

I can recreate that site any which way you would like for a minimal fee. You can always take any web page and go File > Save page as, and you will be able to download the whole page and edit any part of it later. Keep in mind that you cannot download any type of server side code. For example when you have PHP a php file on your server, and a user accesses it, your server executes the php code and displays the HTML output. You cannot save/download php files using the save page as command.

That would defeat the purpose of him learning to do it himself, don't you think?

Your best bet is to start by learning HTML and reading a few articles on web design.

http://w3schools.com for html.

http://alistapart.com http://pixel2life.com for articles and tutorials on everything else.

If you need more specific help, just ask.

Thanks Geodun

he said, "anything you guys could suggest would be greatly appreciated."

he said, "I'm not happy with my current website."

I am always happy to help people learn about web design.

He is using shared hosting and trying to modify a template, which will take him many hours of learning and working to complete.

If he would like to be hosted on a dedicated server, and to have his pages designed by someone else, I am here for that also.

dear Kevan321

sometime using a ready template can be a drawback if the finished design is totally different from the original template....

u need to start from scratch ...

use photoshop to design your dream website and then covert the same to html...

u will need some practice to get it right... but if u have the time, then go for it...

believe me that knowledge will help u a lot in the long run, because web designing is here to stay....
