Newbie - Advice requested for Forms/eMail

Hi,

I presently look after a very basic website for a friend of mine who does administration for a non-profit organistation.

They run monthly meetings and bi-annual conferences and we're looking to try to automate the registration process for both but the priority is the monthly meetings.

I think I've got a grasp on how to incorporate a form into the site for the members to complete to register their attendance and how to get the eMail sent to us - my query resolves around what I need in order for an automated response to be sent back to them confirming their request - can anyone point me in the right direction?

The site is presently written all in HTML.

In order to automate anything, it becomes interactive. When doing something interactive, the most common method is to use PHP. It'd be a good idea to get the basic grasp of PHP and how to use it by visiting this website:

php is not difficult but it is not easy either.... it is difficult to start providing php solutions immediately....
