Layout Suggestions?

I am working with a client on a website. They really love their header, but dont like the way the body is setup. I have seem to hit some kind of design road block. Suggestions are appreciated. http://oldtownpacific.com/

simply color matching the two would make a huge difference to start with.

The site looks fairly good, I would try and stick with the same text font size and type, rather than using different fonts on the same page.
Also I would get rid of the white empty space right at the bottom of the page.

I would give a little bit more space between banners and text. Than mixing these font types "hurts" in my eyes.
