I cant see why you would want to place an alpha channel on the html?

but yes you most certainly can.

I know i could use

html {background: RGB(0,0,0);} /* the fallback */

but that would make alot black, thats what i meant with 'ofcourse i cant do that'

ok. i'm trying out a few things.. i want the dropdown menu to be properly visible in ie7 as well. but it stays behind the slogan, even with z-index..
