Gone from search engine

Hi There,

My wife's web site is just newly built. It has been published and a search of the key words had it at the top of the list in Google. She then had an associate mention it and link it from their site. Now when the same key words are used, the associate's site shows up first with the link to my wife's site and my wife's site does not appear at all on the Google pages.

Any ideas or suggestions please.

There's a period of time from a few days to a week that a new site will rank high in Google. In the SEO industry it's called a "honeymoon period", after which the site will be relegated to the depths until you get some incoming links. You also may find the site somewhere in the index one day and not the next. Google has a LOT of databases and your site is new. It may not have propagated to all the databases yet. Work on getting as many links as you can to the site using your keyword phrases as the link text. It's a good idea to vary the link text also as it looks more natural to the search engines.
