getting info from other web pages

Hi all,
I'm just wondering how difficult it is to automatically update my web page with info from other web pages? Does anyone know of a free online tutorial that covers this? Is it terribly advanced?

You can do this with PHP for example. But it all depends on the type of information you want to fetch: plain HTML, RSS, etc.
