Why do so many people hate flash websites?

Because they are slow to load, particular pages/documents/URLs CANNOT be bookmarked and you have to play through the whole damned thing just to get to the five seconds of information that you actually need.

This... and because the power of flash is complete overkill for making a website. It's like trying to kill a fly with a nuclear bomb. It will work but it's ineffective and bulky... why not use a flyswatter since it's made for killing flies? Or why not use html and css since they're made for web design...

Exactly what chrishirst said, flash is an awful platform to build a website on & is bad for SEO too. Not to mention that iPads/Phones don't support it.
