First time site builder, in need of books.

Well, I am a graphic artist I just recently graduated college and have been working on my portfolio. The last piece to the puzzle now is getting a site up. I read through the "Learning" sticky, but I am in need of some books to help really teach me some of the web design aspects. I am planing on making my own Layout in photoshop which isn't a problem for me since I have extensive use with it. What I am specifically looking for is a book that will teach me how to use web design and photoshop together, I know what slicing does, but never learned about it in school since my Bachelors degree is in "Game Art & Design". I also would am looking for a book that will teach me what ever it is I need to know how to do the "programming" side of web design. I took programing classes in high school and a flash course in college but other than that, all I know is the graphic ends of design. So I know about 50% of what I need to know to have a well put together site. Sorry for short novel I wrote, but any help is much and greatly appreciated.

For html and css I would go to w3schools. That's where I learned most. It's good to have for later reference too.

Not too long ago did a write an article entitled "The End of Books," which leads me to ask, why on earth would you be looking for a book as opposed to an online resource?

If you are grasping the photoshop part well, and the slicing, then you simply need to learn how to use divs and css to layout your content the way you have it in your PS document. As mentioned above, you shouldn't need more than w3schools.

As for the programming part, lynda.com's tutorials for PHP should suit you well.

Slicing is actually something I've never done, because I've never had to for "game art design" everything I know in photoshop is strictly on the graphic ends of things. And as for books, I've always been a book person and reading straight out of a book just comes easier to me than it does on a computer, but to each his own.
