Creating a website for small business

Hi,

I am thinking of setting up my own web design business. One of my freinds is thinking about creating a website to sell greeting cards that she makes herself has anyone got any tips on the sort of planning i should do in order to get the site up and running for her.

1. register a domain name
2. find a host to host the website
3. use some web design software to design the site, and a graphics program for the graphics
4. use a ftp program to upload the website to your web host
5. submit the site to search engines.
The question is a little broad, not sure what level you are at.

In option two you say to "find a host to design the web page"
and in three, you, in so many words, say to design the page... I don't get it, why have a host design your page if you can do it with a program?
