Hello, I am Yuva Pillay

This is an introduction to using Composer -
Tables are one tools you can use for part of Web page design. You can use tables without borders to layout elements on your page, to create margins, to break up large graphics so they load more quickly, or any number of other uses.

Today tables are rarely used as divs are much more flexible to used for web design, but tables are not completely obsolete, they do have their place.


The <div> tag is nothing more than a container for other tags. Much like the body tag, Div elements are block elements and work behind the scenes grouping other tags together.

Tables are important and are still used by web masters.
Example: For creating web forms, Tables are the best option, you can arrange your form neatly and easily.

Although I have spoken about tables in my introduction, my e-book is based on Divs.
I have explained the basics to setup a web site quickly in an easy to master the concept.

tables might be used by web masters for layout but web designers and web developers have moced into this century and only use them for tabular data.

forms can be arranged easily enough without resorting to tables

if your book is based on the use of divs (and the natural document flow) then why did you say about tables?! it's both misleading and wrong.

Table are still in used

Table is not completely obsolete. It's a mistake to believe it's so. It's good to mentioned it because some web site still use it in certain pages. Example: To display product picture and description.

Although div could be used. Sometime web designers use table.

I have mentioned about table so that beginners are aware that tables are still used in part of a web page.

a beginner shouldn't ever be taught to use tables for anything but tabular data.

your intro reads as a praise of tables, and as dave mentioned if your book is about divs then it is very misleading to mention tables.

Lynda.com and Total Training.com both great online tutorial companies teach beginners the concept of tables because it is important to know about its uses - Not just for tabular data.

that doesn't justify using it as an example to layout sites ;)

i would be very worried about downloading anything from someone who cannot accept what we all learnt years ago - and more worryingly is offering to people who might believe you and then adopt bad practices.

Understand, accept and move on: tables ARE NOT FOR LAYOUT.
look now you made me shout ;)
