Hi, I’m thinking about launching a discussion board for my niche.
Can I run a forum on a basic shared hosting plan? Or VPS is better?
How much bandwidth and RAM does a small forum usually use? Is Exmasters.com reliable VPS host?
I want to keep costs low in the beginning.

Few hosting providers conduct backup more than once a day and few do it less often.
Backups are essential to save your data. And also make sure that your databases are also being backed up not only your files.
Ask the hosting provider about his backup policy.
