Can I get by with HTML Kit or Coffee Cup?

Hi I'm new to web design and trying to keep my spending down. Can I get far with using free or low cost software like HTML Kit or Coffee Cup?

Or is it really better to lay down some cash for Adobe Dreamweaver + associated Fireworks, etc.

If you have the cash then definitely go with adobe, but since you want to keep your spending down then free software would do.

I agree with flipboy, Dreamweaver and the Adobe CS's are extremely expensive at first, though there is a benefit with these programs if you are new to webdesign, since they offer really smart features and help with the codings.

But yeah, there are freeware alternatives wich are really similar to the expensive programs.

I'm using DW CS4 with FW CS4, and will definitely recommend it if you have the cash for it Maybe go for Creative Suite 4 Web Standards.
