    Need website structure/design advice

    I just recently discovered CushyCMS. I now offer it as part of my basic design package. I can't recommend it enough for basic copy editing. As for Photoshop, Phreaddee hit the nail on the head. It's useful for conceptualizing and slicing out certain elements, but don't go image happy.

    What are adequate system specs for creating web sites?

    I agree totally. I've been using Notepad++ forever, and before that, I used WordPad. Best way to learn. I only recently switched to Aptana, and if it has a WYSIWYG function, I don't know about it...

    Tables versus ?

    I don't know that setting all your divs to inline would be the best idea. In many cases, you'll want the block-level layout. My suggestion is a CSS reset. Different browsers have different default "user" stylesheets that provide basic styles. This most notably affects margin and padding on...

    IE and Firefox Compatibility

    Have you tried setting cleartypeNoBg: from jquery.cycle.all.latest.js to true? It's on line 905. Just a shot in the dark...

    ** Building a website for the 1st Time ::: DIMENSIONS **

    960 wide x 680-700 high is usually a safe bet, though some netbooks are only 600px high to begin with. Consider using % to size items so they automatically adjust. Beware, though, this can make for some funky effects if you don't set mix/max size values (like stretched/pixelated images)...

    Dreamweaver multi computer use

    I haven't used Dw in a while, but from what I remember, it checks the modified date on the files to determine which ones to overwrite.

    Dreamweaver multi computer use

    As long as you store the website files on a network share or an FTP where both computers can access it, you should be able to do it just fine.

    IE and Firefox Compatibility

    Transparent backgrounds on elements are different from alpha transparency in images. Try changing the image to png-8. It doesn't use alpha transparency (though the quality may drop).

    IE and Firefox Compatibility

    Glad the positioning worked. I start all of my designs by importing my CSS reset. It's nice to have a clean slate to work with, since all browsers' user css is different. As far as the PNG fix, be sure you're following all of the directions, notably this one: I noticed you only specified...
