First you have to unzip it. The reason it was zipped was to make one big file out of many smaller files but you can't edit anything in it while it's in that state. If you use windows, right click on the file and select extract... if it's winXP it will take you through a dialog box and you can...

You'd insert a table in much the same way you would a layer. You can make the table a size to expand/contract with browser size, add as many rows and columns as you need to achieve the layout you want. You don't have to specify an absolute position just left, center, or right alignment.

yes, you can but you seem to be missing some of the basics in web design... i suggest a tutorial site that will help fill in some of the gaps for you. a lot of people like http://www.webmonkey.com for its tutorials. I'm very good at mangling templates... not very good at following them.
