    Where did it come from?

I agree with both of them... over my lifetime I've done a lot of things... teaching, counseling, restaurant management, and the list could go on... the only drawback to being self taught is there may be areas that you are deficient in... on the other hand... i'm thinking that technology and the...

Desperate for help with shopping cart site

oscommerce has a lot stuff than zencart... some would say it's rather bloated... it really depends on what you need... if you need a simpler cart, I'd opt for the zencart... if you need more than zencart offers, try the oscommerce... both are very nice and easy to work with regardless of how...

Desperate for help with shopping cart site

Well, if the old designer quit working on the site, he'll probably be unresponsive to any kind of questions. I didn't take a really long look at WA ecart but if I ever upgrade from my version of Dreamweaver I might consider it since we work with a lot of shopping carts at times. However I...

Desperate for help with shopping cart site

Ouch, that is a bad situation, for sure. Why not build a prototype they can look at and get a feel for how things should work? I know it's time on your part but it looks like you're in a sticky situation. It might be worth it in the long run.

That might be a distinct possibility but here's a link which might help: http://www.webassist.com/professional/products/Help/70/03_Use/02_Display/ec_ed_02.htm According to the specs, it is compatible across platforms, it just may take some tweaking to get it working right.

Desperate for help with shopping cart site

Which cart are you using? It's probably another permissions but one that isn't easy to find... but depending on the cart how easy it will be to fix... not that any are all that hard to work with. They probably are compatible. Most of them are. However, sometimes updated versions of mySQL have...

Requirememts for a Site I found...

I'd start with a free ready made cart if you don't know very much php. You can get an idea of how the code works and fits together from that, then from there you can start learning more and eventually make your own.

Desperate for help with shopping cart site

What kind of errors are you getting? How old is the site? It could be some incompatibilities between php versions. It could be a number of things, really. The error messages you are getting will help figure out where the problem lies.

Requirememts for a Site I found...

That's not a bad idea, honestly. If you do up a bogus site, or two or three, according to some of the specs you see on freelance sites, it will give you an idea of difficulty and time to completion, and EXPERIENCE.

Requirememts for a Site I found...

This is a basic shopping cart. Depending on how much knowledge of mySQL and php you have this could be a difficult task as it requires a bit of code hacking. This is pretty standard even with most ready made carts. See the above backend comments. Regardless of having something already started...

I haven't, at least not fully. I just hack it when I need to make some changes. To learn php, you'd feel obligated to write the whole thing from scratch... I'd have to charge more for that.

Looking for email host that works with domain email address

Okay... at the risk of sounding rude... Here you are paying for hosting without any email services for $3/month and now, you're looking at paying someone else for email services. Obviously, you're hosting doesn't do the job because if it did you wouldn't have to look for part of normally...

vb is good but I've never found it so much better than phpbb2 that it justified the expense. There may even be some others out there worth considering since the last one I dealt with was a couple of years ago, except for someone else's vbulletin... which I'll never do again for free. I don't...
