    client wants to update pages

I agree with that but if it's what the client wants... you know what they say. didn't think about the content management systems... must be half asleep already... it's still early here.

    client wants to update pages

Microsoft Frontpage if you're client isn't very knowledgable... it's the most user friendly... not very clean code but user friendly.

    web address help

to do it as www.dc-photographic.co.uk/weddings there needs to be a foler (directory) called weddings... in that you can make an index.htm page and name any other pages you want what you want but as just a page on its own, it has to be done just like your friend has it.

    On Line Editing?

there are services that do that but, like zkiller, I don't believe there is any automated process that you can use online to do that.

A robots file not being found

google looks for a file called robots.txt which has all the stuff you want the robots to index in it and the stuff you don't want them to index... like images, etc. Try this: http://www.seochat.com/seo-tools/robots-generator/ then save your text file and upload it to the public_html folder.

Can i enhance this 5mb sample?

There are ways and ways to cut down on the file size and not lose too much of the quality. Unless they need to be streaming, what I'd suggest is if your friend has Flash, send him the avi files and let him import them into Flash. Flash has all kinds of settings for getting the best quality video...

I would too discuss it with them, too. I'll send an email your way in a bit.

Looking for quotes for an overflow RFQ.

The first and second sites in those links use html and a shopping cart (I'd recommend ZenCart or osCommerce both of which work very well with paypal or most any other mechant account. The third one is just a shopping cart with a few mods added for content. None of the three have content...

    Overlapping text on some sites

That's about the size of it. Sometimes I do wonder how they grab content. I know on a couple of sites, I've had referrals for search terms that have absolutely nothing to do with the sites and are not in my keywords, either.

    My website redone.

MY biggest problem with it other than the issues z already pointed out is the fact that I have to scroll twice to get to the bottom... you have a scrollbar for the fash content, but you can't get to the bottom of the page that way, you have to use the browser scrollbar, then scroll again with...

    The Boot Kidz

I would get rid of the pink and put the background from the middle where the pink is now, then leave the text section plain white. The background makes it a little difficult to read the text. You also have this big empty space at the bottom which is totally unnecessary when there is a great deal...

    Overlapping text on some sites

I don't think it's old fashioned. I think it's just plain common sense. Just because something's new doesn't mean it's better and the fact that they can't seem to get it together for cross browser compatibility proves that. What's wrong with using tables and css for the rest of it? divs...

    input

I've rarely seen anyone get flamed on one of ian's boards. For the personal site, the fonts are extremely inconsistent. The top font on the splash page (i forget the name of it) doesn't look good at all... I can't read the words because the letters all run together. For the business site...

yes but are you sure you want to? that's an awful lot of bandwidth you're talking about there.

    Strange code on certain pages

Although I've never seen them put quite like that on straight css styles it looks like special effect code for something... since the whole style code isn't there I couldn't tell you for what.

    Check Out RBM

Is there any way you could brighten and sharpen the header image? I think it's a little dark and somewhat dull. Also looks a bit fuzzy. Otherwise, I didn't go into it very deeply but I like the front page... and the fact that you have some German recipes on there... yum yum... well... when I can...

    Slide show

Bill, you always sound like an arrogant or spoiled brat but I like ya anyways... ;) :p I'm not really the best one to tell you about Power Point and all that. Like I said, I haven't used it since 1996... that's a decade ago. Have you any idea how much the software has probably changed in...

    Slide show

A photo gallery gives the visitor more control over what images they want to see and how long they wish to look at a particular image. I can see your issue with needing a slideshow but unless there's a way of slowing down the powerpoint slides, it's going to be a waste of your time. The...

    Review: My site

I agree with the splash page issues. The longer it takes for a visitor to get to the information they are looking for, the more they'll leave for somewhere else. I also agree with the text issue. Text needs to be consistent for the most part. Bolding everything doesn't really help and might...
