What's the deal with Google vs. Yahoo Ranks?

For one of my sites, 20 keywords are first place in Yahoo, and several more in Bing.

But Google isn't so gracious. My Rank Tracker reports only show 3 keywords in Google, and they are in position 85-100.

I know Google gives more weight to backlinks, of which I have few. But I'm baffled at the huge difference in search results between the engines...#1 vs #100 for the same keywords?

Any professional insight would be much appreciated. I've been doing SEO for a while now, and am stumped on this one.

I know - I share your woes.

Google is a lot more fussy with optimisation - it takes a lot more work to get results....and yes links seem to play quite a big part from my experience...and of course, content plays a big part too - a rare case where more is more I think.
