Selling a DVD by download?

Some people I met at a party, when they found out I was a web designer, asked me if it would be possible to put their DVD (a video of a music and dance show by their group) on their website and charge people to download it, and have them pay via PayPal. I said that it was possible, and also that I would be able to do this for them. So now, of course, I have to learn how to do it. I have been searching online and haven't found any good information about how to do this.

I am assuming that first I may have to rip the video from the DVD disk. What programs are recommended for this? I have something on my computer called Express Rip that I have used before for sound files. What file format should the video be in to put it online? mp4?

I am thinking I might be able to use a PayPal "buy it now button", and, only after the customer has paid, will they be able to download the video. Does anyone have any advice for me on this?

Are there going to be potential piracy issues? Anyone could download this video and resell it or distribute it for free. Should I advise my potential customer to take some other route for selling their video? Or is this a good idea they have to sell it via download?

I would appreciate any help I can get with this, since I don't have experience with this particular thing.

the piracy issue would be no greater than someone ripping it from the DVD and making it a torrent anyway

best way to do this would to be to find a cms that specialises in digital downloads in its cart. essentially once they pay for it they are given a download link. it stays up online at this link for a length of time you specify, 24hrs, 1 week etc. you can also set a limit on the amount of times it downloads, ie once or twice. if they then pass that link on to their friend the download limit will come into play and it'll block. you can then bust their arse for breaking your t+c of the download, which of course they'll have checked before the sale.

small print is great for that. no one reads, they just click ok.
