Saving pages as .php

My Navigation and Footer pages are saved as .php and will be inserted into each page of my site. Because of this, do I now have to save each new page I create as .php also or will .htm be fine please?

This depends on your server config but most likely you will need the extension to be .php so your server will know to execute the code.

I'll ring the Server people first thing Monday morning to find out. I'm "modernizing" three web sites and I was thinking that if I could retain the original .htm extension for each page then that would save a lot of mucking around updating links. I guess in the meantime I could just save my template page as a .htm and see if it still works OK. If it works in a browser then I guess that is my answer, isn't it?

Well I tried it as a .htm and both the nav bar and footer were minus the linking text so it doesn't work, not with my server config. anyway. What a pity....
