PSD to HTML

I'm aware that the design and website layout can all be done in a Photoshop file, what I'm after is your opinion on doing this for building websites along with your knowledge on what other ways are most popular for creating the look and layout of the website.

Obviously CSS plays a big part in this, but creating templates or layouts in PS has always been interesting to me.

Look forward to your comments.

Aaron.

I started designing websites in Adobe photoshop, untill 2 years ago when I read something on the internet about Adobe fireworks for webdesign and I decided to try it. When you get used to fireworks, it really is better for webdesigning then Photoshop.
Photoshop is really meant for changing photos etc. Fireworks is just developed for designing websites.

This is just a tip, try to work with adobe fireworks for webdesign maybe you will love it.
More info and reasons check:

Sorry for my English, it isn't that great (yet)

Thanks for your reply and input, never actually used fireworks, but I shall look into this.

Thanks for the tip.

Your English is fine.

I'll agree that fireworks > ps when it comes to web design. That being said (and despite what I've said on this forum in the past) I don't really use either anymore. I find it easier to just go ahead and code my ideas instead of trying to get them into a ps or fw file first. If I get the idea down in code then I save a step and typically write better code semantically that way.

ahh rite, a rought sketch on paper with h1, footer, p, h2 and so on written in them.

Or on a pc, it would be precise lines and so on.

I know it's outdated, but I still build in Ps first. I don't slice code or anything out of it, but it helps me visualize how to code the site, and then I can give the client something to look at and approve before I ever write a line of code.

I've been playing with Fw to see how I like it. The controls/tools are a bit different from Ps and Ai, so slow going on that...

Im with Ron on this one. I like to visualy see what I'm going to do and then go from there. Also, I have tried, in vain, to make wireframes and .. whoo... do I SUCK,lol.. Althought I have been playing with balsamiq mock ups. I advise people to check it out , if nothing else its free and fun to play around with.
