How's it going? Alright here. I have a question but I'm not sure if it's a huge faux-pas...

If you were to look at this old site: http://stdermatology.com/contact.htm (you can click on the links, just not "Home")

and then...

look at the new site: http://stdermatology.com

Would you be able to tell me how to figure out a price to charge for the revamping of the site.

This is the first site I ever designed. I don't know how to charge for it.

Well, I'm not a web designer, but wow! what a difference. That looks fantastic. If this is your first site, keep it up!

Definitely a step in the right direction. The layout is nice and clean.

A couple of notes:

I don't see what the trees have to do with dermatology. Unless there's something I'm missing, I think a dermatology site might be better served by images of happy people with great skin, or something like that.

I like the font around most of the site, but the header font looks funny. Possibly even out of place.

The layout and color scheme are great, but the page background color doesn't fit. If you're going with an earthy color scheme, stick with it throughout.

On a code level:
Tables are for tabular data, not layout.
Images should very rarely be used in place of text. Even then, some sort of text replacement technique should be used. There's no reason your header can't use @font-face or an existing system font.
Try to use shorthand at least a little bit in your CSS, i.e., there's no need to define border-left-width AND border-right-width. Just define border-width:0 1px; This will help reduce the file size of your CSS.

The first question is how long did it take you? You might not charge them by the hour, but at the same time, make sure you're getting paid what your time is worth.

As for the site itself, I'd scale back on the gradients a bit - I count 5 on the services page.. it just lends to being distracting, the more you have.

I also don't know if I'd include the slideshow on every page - it works great on the home page, but again, is kind of distracting on the other pages. The flowers don't really make me think of dermatology, and if possible slow down the speed of the transitions.

Otherwise, not bad!

thank you

@ronaldroe & anyone else that might comment on the pictures... I just used images my client chose.

@notarypublic as for the gradients, i didn't realize how many i was using... that's crazy!

everyone else, thank you for the comments, tips and suggestions! i'm still learning here so i'll take any advice and criticism and use it on this and future projects

Don't use flash! (I know you aren't but I saw a post above someone said you should)

Anyhow... looks more like a totally new design instead of just a revamp. I would charge them the price of a complete website.

I'd charge around NZD$1500 - $2k for something comparable.
