Hi, this is my first post on Web Designer Forum...I just wanted to get some feedback on a site I am currently developing. Problems, hate it, love it, suggestions are all very much appreciated! Currently it is not indexed by search engines, I have it redirected until it's ready to run live.

I am really looking for feedback on the functionality, relevancy, if it seems like something you might like, etc. The design/layout is still up for critique of course! But, just not my main questions...

Thank you!

Here's the site: www.leniche.com

it looks pretty nice!
I'm not a big fan of the alternating positions of categories on the Browse Jobs page. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but it looks a bit sloppy.
Also on that page, the text ("Freelancer Wanted") and navigation ("Write ad"..."rules") seem to be centered differently than the categories.
I'd suggest changing the "no picture" image to something smaller, because currently it stands out more than the actual pictures. Perhaps make it a lighter gray shade?

overall, i like it, looks user friendly, and I'd be one to use it because it's usually easier to both find a job and an offer on new freelance sites for less, and people would be satisfied with less-than-perfect work (although I'm sure that's not the reason you were hoping i'd join haha).

Good luck with it :)

Thank you!

Thank you for the feedback! Awesome suggestions, I really appreciate your thoroughness. And, you reason for joining was just fine! It's good because it means that the freelance sites out there right now are just cluttered with freelancers who are out of their league above their league or spammers. And, the potential clients looking to hire freelancers aren't given a lot of options for the types of freelancers they might want...

Basically, what turns you off about a freelance site filled with high end jobs and corporate companies, is also what turns off those looking to legitimately find freelancers to do work for them.

That's funny, because I actually thought about focusing it in on small businesses and possibly students to "newbie nichers" (as the clever little name I came up with...) I decided against it because there wouldn't be much room to grow.

Anyway, thank you again for your feedback, and I definitely need to change the unaligned job listing categories. I'll probably take out the notebook paper image all together as I'm sure that's what's throwing it off...

Sincerely,

Christina

great choice in colors. looks very clean and is easy to read.

the only thing i don't really care for is the logo image. it doesn't really flow with the overall professional look of the site.

i most likely wouldn't sign up for another freelancer type site, as i don't even visit those i am a member of. when i used to try to make a living off of web design/development, i found that i could get all the work i needed threw my site and just random people approaching me via an instant messenger or email that saw my work god knows where. if i decided to start back up in the design biz, i would probably stay to true to my old habbits and stay away from such sites. i like having direct contact with the client and complete control over which projects i take on and which i decline. i don't like the idea of having to outbid others for a job and possibly selling myself under value in the process.

not saying that such sites are bad idea, just not my cup of tea. :)
