Overlapping Buttons

Hello everyone!

Just want to begin by saying I'm new here, and, uhh.. Howdy!

Anyways, my issue is for a website I'm building, my buttons overlap eachother when I have the cursor hovered over it.

The buttons are made the standard way with 3 images that is supposed to show one of the three depending on the CSS states, but when I hover, the original image stays in place and the hover/active just drops itself on top of it.

Any ideas?

I just figured it out right now, thanks anyways.

I had ".button" in my css when I should have only had ".button a:active, a:hover" and ".button a:link, a:visited"

having the one with no action to follow through just left it there forever with no purpose.
