I've been working on and nourishing an idea for a website that revolves around social networking. I have given this idea much thought and I have determined that no social network currently out is offering the features and abilities that I have though of. I'm willing to go out on a limb and attempt this project. While I consider myself a computer geek and techie I lack the abilities to design a website of this caliber, although I am trying to learn.

What I am looking for is a web designer/s to help me bring this idea to life. I'm looking for a partner. I'm willing to sign a partner agreement as long as you are willing to sign a NDA (non-disclosure agreement). I'm trying to change social networking and I need someone that shares the same passion for change and technology.

If your interested or would like to talk to me, feel free to PM me. Thanks.

I remember when I was 17.. so young, so full of hope. The idea I had at the time was to study electrical engineering and create the wireless hub, allowing people to connect to wireless devices to the internet without having to be near a fixed access point to the internet. That was back in 2005 - I'm just now seeing them on the market, so I know I was onto the right idea.

Not saying your idea is wrong. Just that you're a few years young for people to take you seriously - especially seriously enough to sign an NDA. Assume at this point that most people you'll be in communication with are at least college age. Oftentimes a lot older. And we all remember our dreams at 17, too.

In all seriousness, though, you have competition ;) I'm working on the alpha version of a project with a very similar aim. I'm curious if our ideas are the same, but not curious enough to share what I'm working on until it's at the point I can launch it.

If you want some good advice, that I wish I had realized at the time - Start the homework on your idea. If it takes knowing how to program the back-end of a web platform, then start learning. If you've had experience building and launching basic, static websites, the next step is learning a server language like PHP, and how to work with databases with mySQL. I started that in college at 18, so you're probably ready for the challenge. If someone beats you to whatever idea you're working on, at least you'll have a working knowledge you can use towards the next idea.

One thing to always remember about posting information on a web page - don't ever post an email address. This will subject you to endless spam. You can expect it to start soon.

This forum includes a way to send private emails to another member.

I'd suggest getting a different email address such as one on gmail since aol is looked on very negatively by the experts.

Anyway, best of luck with your idea.

Thanks for the advice. I do plan to eventually get my head wrapped around programming more and get into PHP and mySQL. Im willing to learn but in the meantime I am looking for someone who already has that experience to assist me in my idea so I can at least attempt to get this thing off the ground, even if it takes a year from now to get a prototype I at least want to have my foot in the door. Im just needing someone with experience in web design with a little extra time to spare.
