Need constructive feedback & advices on layout

The first thing you should do is define a page width and stick with it. I would try to make the site no larger than the grey area (roughly 850px). Those two columns on either side of the main area don't fit with the site. If you compact your browser, everything becomes too congested.

Also make sure everything lines up properly. If you surround all your elements in a "wrapper" division, then you can set everything inside to be center aligned.

You should also add a footer at the bottom. The content area ends too abruptly, there should be some separation between it and the bottom of the screen.

I could list a few other tips, but just tackle one problem at a time.

I find that looking at other websites helps me get a better understanding of layout and design.

Well, i would really want to go with percent as i noticed it looks better in resolutions like 1600x1200, instead of watching a small, 850px width layout.

And you know how many times i've tried to look at other websites? Doesn't work too good for me :/

Will probably add a footer later, yes ;)
