Menu, cut image

Hello,

I saw this website and I liked the menu mouse over over the image.
I am new at this and I was wondering how it has been done, did they use photoshop to cut the image on the left where the menu il located? did they create also different color images for the rollover?
How can I do something similar?

Grumpy girl, cheer up! haha...seriously though I dont see any cool nav rollovers in that site. It is uses images for the navigation with no anchor text, a big no no in today's web development standards. To answer your question, yes they use cut up pieces of an image with the text flattened in to the image, one chunk for each link. Then a second image for the rollover. You also mentioned menu "LI" yeah there is no list items in that nav...its all a table. You have the right idea in mind, use a UL to hold your nav, not a table.
