Hi all,
I'm thinking of having my logo redesigned. Is is right that since I'm a small business I should not just have text in the logo? That's only for large companies, as people know their brand?

Not neccessarily but kind of. It should still be clean and simple but a unique graphic or really unique font style will help people recognise you. Larger companies with massive marketing budgets can afford brand recognition on name alone.

For now your logo should be just that, a logo. IMHO.

Logo text not really for big companies (although most of them have it) any company can have it too. But it's a good idea to have a logo on your business!

Text logos are very important for small businesses.

People need to instantly understand what you do.

I cannot stress this enough: KEEP IT SIMPLE.

So many small businesses go with a complex logo, it looks tacky.

It depends on your brand, or type of business. I have seen so many small businesses with text in their logo and some of them looks weird. Some others doesn't have the text and design balanced and it looks really bad.

Try to keep balance between the elements in your logo so it looks natural.
