Joomla, Drupal or Wordpress?

as a novice I would say that wordpress would be the easiest to master, although I personally much prefer to use joomla myself. drupal "apparently" is the most developer friendly but I find it a bit backwards in going forwards, and would probably be the hardest one to get a handle on.
all three are php based so you would need to have at least "some" knowledge of php in order to setup and build the website, but after you've made a few websites with them you'll be fine.
my suggestion would be to tryout all three and the one that grabs you the most initially is the one that you run with. Each to their own but in order of preference for me would be joomla, wordpress and then drupal.

Thanks, my PHP knowledge really stops at simple contact forms etc... As you seem fairly clued up on these, i have another question; would you use one of these programs for general website design or only sites requiring CMS or some sort of 3rd party inputting? I'm trying to establish when to use and what the capabilities are.
I generally will implement a cms for all websites I build so that there is room for expansion. if the client does not intend on updating very often and it is really just a few pages, then I might just make it a basic html site, but I dont seem to be doing too many of these anymore...just cant be bothered to waste my time.
