These all look like they are from hosted CMS accounts like vimp.com or 4ormat.com

Is there an easy way to do the same thing free (or cheap) on my own host?

Never been very keen on horizontal scrolls. It's not a natural action for a mouse. Unless you can make it a click and flick on the images themselves (which would also be compatiable for touch devices) I wouldn't recommend it.

That was kind of what I was hoping to do, but i haven't found a solution yet

Best bet is to see if you can find something scripted in Jquery. Or script one yourself.

** I have found a couple links which may help. Maybe the combination of the two will make it functional on any device:

I do like that 2nd link. I dont know how i missed it in my search
