Help; FTP website publishing

Hello, im currently trying to publish my website using the website's Sitebuilder option. I can make all the editing, however when i try publishing it i get this error:

The site cannot be published to the specified location.
Cannot publish to the specified host via FTP. Authorization failed.

I have downloaded software to connect to the FTP server, and i get the FTP files, I dont know how to make changes to the website through this.

Id like to be able to publish my website..

Webserver is through HOSTNET.nl

I live in USA. Working on website friend gave me from the Netherlands. ~ I have all the information...

Hello and welcome to the forum!

If you are using a site builder provided by the hosting company, then I don't think it should matter much which FTP client you're using, unless you are downloading the files locally and then trying to upload via FTP.

It sounds like you may be putting in the wrong FTP information as well. I would give the hosting company a quick call and ask them about your FTP information.

At what point in the uploading process do you get the message
"The site cannot be published to the specified location.
Cannot publish to the specified host via FTP. Authorization failed."?

And also, what FTP client are you using? (screenshots would help).

Then again, calling the web hosting company should be free and they're staff is usually very easy to work with no matter what hosting company you choose (I've never had an issue that they couldn't resolve -- and I've worked with a lot of hosting companies.
