Hi All,
I'm new to this site to so apologies if i'm posting in wrong area etc.

Wondering if someone can help me? I have set up a site for my insurance company but I am having the most terrible time in getting the form-to-mail part of it to work (which is the most important part of the site!)

Is there anyone who can first check that my html on my page is correct? Or is it the script?

When I click on the submit button, I get an '500 Internal Server Error'? I'm so lost !!

Can anyone help me?

Many, many thanks!

The link to the form is http://www.ashbournes.com/html/test.html

First things first; are you sure that the correct version of perl is installed and running on your server? There is a perl test file that can be downloaded and used to check this. Second is the perl mail processor file installed in you websites cgi-bin folder?

A few more things to check..maybe..

Possibly the second most common cause of script failure is permissions -- make sure the cgi (or .pl) files permissions are set correctly. Most cgi requires a minimum of 755. The host can tell you how to accomplish this on thier server.

You might also need to check and confirm that the host provider permits formmail. That particular form-handler script has been hacked so much that many hosts no longer allow it.
MasterFeedback is one free form-handler option that may work for you --> http://www.dlperry.com/enhance_website.html#free

Also, check and confirm that .pl is the preferred extension for cgi programs. Some hosts also restrict this to either all .pl or all .cgi.

And as mentioned already - you might need to install the program in a cgi-bin directory - many hosts also restrict execution of programs outside of a specific directory.
