It's not a bad design. A couple of notes, though.

It feels a bit...claustrophobic. I would maybe widen the content area a bit, and leave some more white space.

Try to steer clear of using images in place of text, especially for navigation. You should be able to find a webfont that is at least similar. Try http://www.fontsquirrel.com

It's best to keep styles in the stylesheet as much as possible. By this I mean the image width, height and border. Also, if you're not actually resizing the images, there's no need to add width/height values.

I really like the color pallet and layout of this site.

the content text needs to be smaller so as to fit more words per line, or like ronald suggested widen the entire content area.

you should try google fonts, theres some pretty good ones there which are easy to implement.

good start tho.

I hear ya on the nav elements with images I was going to eventually swap those out they were just sliced from my mockup for now.

Thanks for the suggestion on the size I had not considered how compact it had become.

The inline size for the images is only there to correct an issue with the slider in chrome and safari where without the image heights and widths it will not render properly.

thanks so much for feedback though it really helps at this stage to get a fresh perspective on the design

I like it. One thing that is bothering me is the slide show transition. The it bounces is kinda weird to me. If it was a smooth subtle transition, it would look tight!

I love green... so I immediately liked the site. I agree about the slideshow transitions though. At first it's neat, but then it gets kind of annoying. Overall, good site!
