graphic png choppy in IE - Fine in FF

working on my site, and just checked it in IE8 only to find that my graphic rollover medal balls have a horrible black choppy border- in FireFox they look great-

Any ideas would be great..

IE and png transparency don't generally play nice together.

(I really wish I had $1 for every time I've typed "IE and xxxxx don't generally play nice together.")

That said, there's some javascript solutions out there to fix png transparency in IE. Search google for something like: ie png fix

then try out some of the solutions you find.

Alternatively: try a transparent gif. While not always as crisp as a png depending on the situation, it's sometimes quite faster to get working and can look just as good situationally.
