FTP troubles

I'm having problems getting FTP software for my eMac. It is OS X version 10.4.11, and Filezilla wouldn't open on it- requires 10.5 or newer, and I tried Cyberduck, which I could download a version before 10.5, but I couldn't make heads or tails of it, there wasn't even a C panel, and I've used Filezilla and know how it works. What should I do, can I find some free software for my machine? Or can someone help me with Cyberduck? Thanks.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

I use Cyberduck, and I prefer it over Transmit (which isn't free). Just click "open connection" on the top left.

For "Server", just type in your domain name/ web address

Then type the username and password that you would use to enter your hosting service's site. Click "Connect" and you should be fine.

Once connected, right click on the main folder (usually called 'public_html') and click upload...

This will bring up a dialogue box that prompts you for the files that you would like to upload.

Got it...

Thanks, I actually figured it out already. I'm pretty new to design, and I'm not technical, so I'm reluctant to do anything which might cause a problem, but it's pretty simple, really, so I just went ahead. Thanks.

Reboot your computer. If you're still having problems, contact your host and ask them if they're experiencing connectivity issues. This is very common on shared hosting plans. You share a server with other customers. If one of them is utilizing more than their share of computer time then it slows it up for everyone else.
