The latest in my development ventures has lead me back to where I started: web design. Accompanied by nostalgia, web development is my home. After some simple brainstorms and such, I decided to throw together a simple design for a personal website.

Due to lack of inspiration within the past few months, I've been unable to come up with a decent design to share. I'm hoping that has changed and I'm looking forward to reading some constructive criticism, tips, and maybe even a few compliments here and there for my recent work.

The design is incredibly simple, and in picture format as I am yet to slice it up and piece it together as an actual HTML design.

Let me know your thoughts on this design if you will and constructive criticism is always welcome and appreciated. I'm quite a beginner when it comes to design, but I envy those who have the gift :)

Here's the design: http://tr.im/BJLv

Spend more time on this. I think, even if it isn't always fun, more time will bring you some better ideas.

The example you've linked to is very simple, I agree. However it has some design elements that might be too simple or generic. I'm thinking the look you're going for needs to have a tone of technological and also social? You have the forward slashes, brackets, etc. If that's the direction you're going, you should definitely reflect on it more. Don't just look at programming elements you can borrow but think about what your relationship is to technology. Think of what that means and then see how you can implement that. Do the same for gaming. Maybe that's too much.

Anyway, the tone of the example you have is very subdued, quiet and inoffensive. I don't know if that's what you were aiming for. Consider a stronger accent color that contrasts with everything else but you use it sparingly.

good luck.
