All Of My Competition is using Link Exchanges

I checked the backlinks for all of my competing sites that are ranking on the 1st page of google. I was surprised to see that basically ALL of their backlinks were due to link exchanges. This doesn't seem fair at all. I've built all my backlinks through more legitimate methods like article...

    Submitting to Googlebase

Since Google got rid of the option to submit items "one at a time" on Googlebase, I now do not know how to submit an item with anchor text in the description. Does anybody know how to do this by using an xml or text feed? It is now the only way to submit items.

When To Abandon The Pursuit of A Keyphrase

I've been pursuing a keyphrase that started out at around 150,000 results in google. I look today and it's now 650,000 results in google and each day I look, it keeps growing. Is this a signal that I should probably abandon trying to optimize for this keyphrase?

    Dreamweaver 8 upgrade

I would say to go with CS5. Just as technologies that run the web change, so do the development tools.

Best method to get best backlinks

If you post an interesting blog article, and add text links inside, and then syndicate the hell out of it to other blogging and public domain article sites, people will eventually republish your article with all those links to their sites. It is kind of tedious to have to re-post the same...

Ready-to-use Wordpress sites: what to focus on

It's not completely a bad idea to create a few Wordpress themes. I just don't think you should expect to get paid for it. It's a great way to drive traffic to your website if you include a link back to your site on the template and upload it to the Wordpress theme library. Integrating...

    video at homepage

Right click on the video and it should probably come up with a menu for flash files. Flash would definitely be the method of choice for getting this done. Not so sure about HTML5 quite yet because most users probably don't have HTML 5 support on their currently installed browsers.

    Best Software for Graphic Design

Photoshop & Dreamweaver. Hands down. If you're really good at coding HTML & CSS, you don't even need Dreamweaver, but we all make mistakes so it helps to have a visual editor.

Do Job Recruiters Have Any Clue What They're Talking About?

I have a resume on Monster.com and at least once a day I either get an email or a phone call with an offer for a job that I'm clearly not qualified for. I explicitly state in my profile that I'm a web designer and that I'm not a programmer, but they don't seem to listen. I've gotten countless...

    CSS background not working...

It's likely that you links in your CSS might be pointing to a local file on your computer but not a relative link to your site. You might also not have the image uploaded to your hosting directory.

Not done SEO in 2 yrs. Need some help.

Have you tried using Facebook & Twitter to drive traffic? It helps. Try to post backlinks from any and all sites that you think are related to your subject matter. Blog comment forms, forums, post articles. I would also suggest starting a blog on your site either by using Wordpress. Don't...

    Webdesign Software

I'd say go with Dreamweaver for general web development. It writes the best error free code and has lots of add-ons you can install for it. However, if all you want to do is design a simple website with a few links here and there, most free sites like Joomla, Drupal & Wordpress make setting up...

    HTML vs CSS ??

Pick up a cheap book about basic CSS. There's a lot of stuff you can learn and do with it that is very hard to do with just HTML alone. Also, if you have Dreamweaver, it makes working with CSS a whole lot less frustrating as you can see your CSS styling changes in real time. Type "css...
