Web Design Tips

I am a photographer, and amateur web designer.

I designed and built my photography website. I have been getting mixed reviews. I am looking for design tips from people who know websites.

I used to have a showitfast drag and drop website, but i got tired of having a website that looked just like everyone elses. That is a simple slideshow that scrolls from one image to the next. I want my site to look clean and elegant. I want it to portray a high end feel for high end clients, all while being unique. It needs to work on mobile devices as well as computers.

I built this website with a striking wordpress theme, and A LOT of customization, to the point where it doesnt resemble the original theme.

I am looking for design suggestion, and examples. If you see a problem please suggest a fix.

Here it is. www.jonmphotography.com

Thank you, i look forward to hearing back from you guys.

I think it looks good. The only thing I think should be changed is under the About section. The bio text extends past the grey box and spills into the white around it.

The rest I'd suggest changing is just my preferences. Always have a navigation bar at the top of the page, and to have a high quality thumbnail with a lightbox/thickbox/clearbox/etc. attached to show the large version when clicked on. The images feel too big to me.

very nice!

too hard to read the "capturing the moments" (well ok obviosuly i could read it;)) either make it a touch bigger or duplicate the layer (check it's snapped to pixel grid too)

Jon, The site looks great, nice pictures by the way but it is a bit too plain in the pages such as Term of Use, Privacy Policy, and the F.A.Q. The navigation bar in the terms and condition page seems like mess up a little bit, maybe you should work on that. Overall, the site is very nice. :) -Jay

The photos are awesome! But I would move the menu bar up, to the top. I'm viewing your site on a 1280 x 800 screen and only see photos when I land on your index page. It is as if I landed on a site under construction because there is no header. I have to scroll down for that, and I find that peculiar.
